I bought a 08 alumacraft tpro 185 a few years ago. Mechanically great (yammy 150) the boat is the alumacraft blue, single console. It needs a transom like all the rest of them. Im fortunate enough to struck up an online conversation with Zach Zylnski of cliffs auto and RV, who is making quite a name for himself in the restoration of lund and alumacraft transoms.

Zach and his team also do some OUTSTANDING restorations, repaints etc of alum boats for, from what I can find, extremely competitive pricing. Im leaning towards repainting the boat in the style of the shadow series boats, ive always liked those. I will post pictuers as I get them, hopeful to have the boat back around 2nd week of august.

what color schemes are you fellas partial to on alumium boats, what have you owned that you thought you liked, and ended up not, and vice versa. kind of a blank canvas as of now, as theyre getting rid of 17 years of dings and minor dents.

Cool project. Looking forward to the pics. I'm partial to metallic blue and silver.

ive decided on a dark graphite, were going to make it look like the 2025 paint scheme with the thin grey on top. should look pretty slick. They've taken the motor off, started taking the transom and splash well out, and started doing body work. They've been sending plenty of pictures. I suppose I better start getting pics on a hosting site. I will say, im extremely happy with the price. They've done roughly 40 transoms this year from as far away as colorado, located in northern Illinois

I figured I should share some "before pictures" and some in Progress. The final picture of the new boat is what we will be modeling the new paint job on. though, we wont be painting the bottom so it will be a touch different.

ill try and post some pics, to say im 100% happy is a gross understatement. Zach and the guys at Cliffs auto and RV in Sycamore/maple Park IL are absolute wizards. They took a battered old alumacraft and made it better than new.

I had them do a composite transom.
New livewell pumps and lines while it was apart.
Full paint and body work, it had TONS of dents to get out.
New tires and wheels.

hell of a lot cheaper than a new boat. ill be taking it back to him this winter to get aqua traction installed. This wasnt a cheap project but the guy i had do it did a better job for 40% less than i was quoted by other local shops. I looked at boats they had done, and it was not even in the same stratosphere as far as quality.

another development, he posted it on his business page, and the original owner saw it. I talked to him tonight, he used it for tournament walleye fishing, and stated that it had a new power head installed in 2016 right before he sold it. It had a factory defect that yamaha took care of out of warranty. It broke the crank right under the flywheel. So the motor has SUPER low hours on it. I bought it from the guy he sold it to, and i know he didnt put more than 100 hours on it
