| I bought my fist Boo-Tail bucktail last year and really like the action of the tail. I will probably pick up some new Mepps Maribou bucktails this year. Do you guys consistently fish maribou tail or the traditional hair tail? If you use both on a regular basis is there anything special that dictates what type of tail you use? Do you tend to favor one type over another? Thanks.

Location: Oconto Falls, WI | The one thing marabou gives you over the natural deer hair is more of a liflike pulsing action of the tail. "Fluffing" of the marabou during the retrieve is a great trigger for those fish that just like to follow. I haven't fished much marabou is the past, but now that I am armed with the Mepps Marabous I will be doing a lot more of it this year. |

Location: Racine, Wi | After seeing the mepps marabou in action this year, I decided to tie some of my own up. Marabou has great action in the water, and as Travis said, you can make those suckers dance in the water. Definitely pick some up.
They will be getting wet again this season.

Location: Black Creek, WI | Personally, I don't think the pulsation of the Marabou in the water really triggers that many strikes. I choose marabou over hair for other reasons such as it often has a longer, more slender profile than big flared hair tails AND most importantly the Marabou casts far better into the wind.
Overall... I think the BLADE is where its at in regard to "bucktails". That, in my opinion, is what was so special about the Mepps Marabous. A big colorado blade on a thin wire shaft, along with Mepp's unique clevis design, probably produced a vibe the fish really liked. Although... the fish still ate my Flashers and Boo's too, so who knows?????

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I liked the french blades on the old Mepps. I caught plenty of muskies with them.
The new blades on the Mepps Marabous are big fish blades. It just seems to attract bigger fish on the average for me.
As far as Marabous, only time will tell. I love the Boo's Tails, I catch plenty of fish on them also.
I am going to try to use all bucktails this year and let the relults tell me whats hot and when.

Location: Chicago, Beverly | My first Musky Bait was a Maraboo Spinnerbait. Been throwing them for 11 years with great success. Lots of lures I'll go on the water without, my Maraboo spinnerbait will always be ready for a cast though. I have one Mepps Maraboo, nice looking bait, haven't thrown it yet. I just like how the Maraboo pulsates like nothing else. |
