| I have decided i want to roll with the Helix depth finders, but just need to decide on which ones! For those that have them, what is the main difference between the 7 and 9 inch models? (I thought it had something to do with linking them together with the trolling motor??)
Also, which trolling motor would you recommend between the Terrova, Ulterra, and the Ultrex?
Also, what is this new "Chirp" technology mean?

Location: Ashland WI | If you want to link it to your trolling motor, you have to use at least the 9.
Last year I used the 9 with a terrova. I had them linked and I really liked the follow the contour feature. |

| the new helix 7 G2N can network with the I-link now ,when there is a N at the end of the model number it can network=control an I-link motor. and with the 9 you get a bigger screen but same pixel count. and for the trolling motor what do you have now ? do you want a self deploying motor (ulterra) ? or if you like cable drive the ultrex was made for that and terrova is the work horse without deploy but you got to have I-LINK to control from the helix ! |

| Huge difference - Helix 7 doesn't have autochart live mapping. This was an absolute game changer for me last year. I now have the best map in existence for multiple metro muskie lakes, as well as half a dozen west metro "under-mapped" lakes. I thought side imaging was going to be the big thing for me, but autochart live is the reason why I follow a different line around than most of the guys on the lake now. |

| Regarding T-motor, what are your needs? If you're able to deploy your own T-motor I'd say get the top of the line terrova and channel the money towards a bigger Helix |

Huge difference - Helix 7 doesn't have autochart live mapping. This was an absolute game changer for me last year. I now have the best map in existence for multiple metro muskie lakes, as well as half a dozen west metro "under-mapped" lakes. I thought side imaging was going to be the big thing for me, but autochart live is the reason why I follow a different line around than most of the guys on the lake now.
The new Helix 7 CHIRP SI G2N I just got for Xmas DOES have Autochart Live built in. I haven't used it yet, but I can't wait.. |

The any model of Helix with the G2N notation, either 7 / 9 / 10 / 12 models do have a network capabilities and the ability to utilize 360 imaging and i-pilot link.
Check out the new MEGA imaging on the Helix 9 /10 /12 CHIRP SI GPS G2N models. It is amazing the clarity and sharpness of the images being produced.
Additionally, the CHIRP is a feature on most of the new G2 and G2N models. What this means is that the transducer will send out a range of frequencies instead of a single frequency. When it receives the multiple frequencies back, the unit processes the feedback to match the best frequencies for the conditions, thus yielding higher quality sonar returns. What this does for the angler is yield better images and increased target separation to better find details in structure and fish hiding among it. |

The Terrova, Ulterra and Ultrex offer models with i-Pilot and i-Pilot Link. These model have some powerful features like Spot Lock, Auto Pilot and Follow the Contour (i-Pilot Link w/ LakeMaster only). It comes down to preference and fishing style and needs.
Ultrex: Cable steer variable speed steering with power assist, lift assist gas shock, Spot Lock on foot pedal, i-pilot and i-pilot Link models
Terrova: Electric steer, Manual stow and deploy, lift assist spring, Spot Lock on foot pedal, i-pilot and i-pilot Link models
Ulterra: Electric steer, Auto stow and deploy with remote or foot pedal, Spot Lock on foot pedal, i-pilot and i-pilot Link models
