First question:
So i just set up a NMEA network, and have a question regarding, the terminators, i
was wondering, why they want a terminator in both ends, seen several pictures of networks, where they use one end of the "back bone" to the power supply or attaching a unit. The system seems to work great with 2 T's and 1 terminator, with HDS 7, trolling motor and power supply plugged in.

Just wondering if there is something i am missing?

second question:
Anyway now that the NMEA works i was wondering what people think of the Lowrance point 1 antenna? fish quite i bit after dark, and would be awesome if the direction of the boat actually matched the true boat orientation

I think you can either use 2 - 120ohm resistors, or 1 - 60 ohm resistor.

Hm... if two 120 terminators are required could i place the 2 one in an other terminal, as i would like to run the HDS through the end of the backbone.

So found the answer on an other board, a terminator is needed in both end otherwise there is a large change of weird acting instruments.

Anyway now that the NMEA works i was wondering what people think of the Lowrance point 1 antenna? fish quite i bit after dark, and would be awesome if the direction of he boat actually matched the true boat orientation.

If you are running a Gen2 or earlier, I wouldn't be without the Point 1 antenna. It makes a gigantic difference for the relatively low cost. If you have Gen3 it's not necessary. It already has the 10 hz antenna built in. (Gen 2 is 5 hz, so point 1 is twice as fast to update).

I have a Gen 3, its not the update speed in intrestet in its the magnetic compass function that is interesting.

knowing what way the boat is pointing at night when laying in the same spot.

Wouldn't be without point 1. With your map orientation set north up, your position arrow or boat is always pointing in the correct magnetic direction ie, southwest etc. So if your waypoint is shown on the port rear side of the boat, that's where you probably want to cast or concentrate. You will always know where things are in relation to the boat.
If you are using the wind for a controlled drift, your boat indicator may appear to be drifting sideways. That's correct as the boat icon will always be in relationship to the earth not the direction that the boat is going.
These things make fishing in the dark much easier.
