My most memorable moments for 2007 came as the netman for my brother on LOTW this summer. My bro had 2 fish to his name in over 3 years and was desperate to get out of his slump. Being in the boat to net his 7 fish for the week, including 3 PBs was definitely a highlight for me. Seeing his face light up when he broke it the first time with a 41" was great but seeing him melt down when a 46" Weagle fish went into the bag was priceless. He worked really hard for those fish and never gave up so it which made his week even more special. Ending the year as a witness to a last cast fish was also up there as far as memorable moments as well.

Taking my 12 year old nephew in law musky fishing for the first time and him landing his first river musky(2nd fish ever besides a bluegill) 40incher and him learning how to use a baitcaster, all with in the first hour of him getting into the river for the first time. We gained one more Musky Hunter!! He had a smile from ear to ear all week!! 07 is still not over yet, so hoping to have more memories!! thanks

I have lots of memories from last year, musky league was a blast as usual, got to fish at least one day with my bro, took my daughter out on a local lake in the fall and she had her first follow about 40", she's 2 and a half years old people, tossing a crazy crawler that I've had since I was a little tyke thanks for the Barbie pole Jason! Catching a 40" in league and watching it hurdle out of the net on Troy, a half hour later I had a fathead of a 40 something inch tiger get out of the net for good, blew up my powerhead on my opti, that was the suck moment of the year hmmmm nah losing that tiger was the suck moment. Brother in law catches his first musky with me no net required a 36" hits at boatside and lands right on the rear deck........ good times bad times another year in the books!!

Coming in third at the madison chain pmtt.Coming home that night bringing my trophy in the house my triplets went crazy like it was Christmas.I had some hardware in the past, but none since they have been born. Then to top things off I move up to second only to miss first by a half inch, but if I had to lose, Scott and Choppie are the ones I would pick.To see those kids jumping around when they saw that trophy was priceless, even the dog peed himself when I walked in.bill

Mike Gumiela, everyone says that you'll never forget your first muskie, sorta like you'll never forget your first kiss! I can't tell you how happy you made me that day! I've been out with many muskie guides and have never caught a muskie before that unbelieveable day on the Big Chip! My knees are still knocking!I can't believe the strength of them fish, and to top it off, it was a smashing boatside hit! I have a picture of that fish in a frame on my desk at work and everybody wants to know where I caught it at but I told them I got her on Lake X just like you told me.I can't even imagine catching a 40 incher! If you come through with your promise and put me on a 40 incher this year you will be a GOD in my eyes! Thanks once again for my personal best! Your the best partner a guy could ever have.........

On LOTW in July, my partner and I went guided one day with Perry from Youngs Camp. I was up front, my partner Bill in the middle and Perry in back.

Fishing was tuff and I was not buying into Perry telling me how small I needed to go. My parnter and I basically met him in the middle and were throwing smaller baits. We were basically bass fishing. We came up to a small pocket and I threw first, nothing, my partner hit the spot, nothing, then Perry threw his little bass lure to the same spot and we saw a fat 48 come out of no where and smoke his bait 10' from the boat.

So I guess learning to do what a guide says at all times makes it a memorable.

Wow, lots of great highlights! One of the cooler posts in a while.

My highlight is when I took my musky partner Jimmy Grasz out on the Big Chip and got him a fat 32incher, which was his first musky ever!!! Congrats Jimmy, I think you will end up being a pretty good musky fisherman... Keep it up kid.

Mike

Mike,
Did you get a girth on that fatty for Rocketmans replica?

Fishboy,
I wanted to girth Jimmy's fat 32" but he was too worried about a safe release. That kid is all about the fish. If I had to estimate I would probably say the girth was right around 14".

Mike,I just went on Musky Hunters web site and went to there weight calculator and my 32 X 14 was estimated at 7.84 lbs! Who should I go with for a replica? Lax or Fittante?

Out on the local waters I ran into two different strangers who knew who I was because of a MuskieFirst sticker plus 6 or so Grateful Dead stickers on my boat. "Hey, are you Ranger?!" Always nice to be recognized and associated with M1.

Netting my partner's (Kevin Rand) 48"er in the Cass Lake PMTT. That fish came 5 feet out of the water after it hit. Epic battle.

1) Putting the net under a nice metro fish for my Dad that matched his PB
2) skipping a work function and catching 2 in one night with the girlfriends step dad (good friend also).
3) Catching my biggest of the year 49.5 out of the back of Lax's boat
4) two very successful weekends on Vermillion with my brother and Tanner Wildes
5) Hitting Pull tabs with Smokin' Joe

Fishing 5 weeks after my third back operation in two years in NJ's Muskies inc Spring Fling tournament with my best friend.
15 minutes into the tournament working a Weagle from deep to shallow and having my PB 4 footer come up like air jaws with my Weagle in his mouth.
My friend and I won the tournament and big fish

Gr8 day for me, Jeff
