Subject: LOTW-1st Week of October

Ok guys, I've got a little over a week til I leave for a houseboat trip[:p]. Will likely fish mostly Sabaskong Bay area. Here's my questions.

1. List your top 5 lures you'd have to take. Include color, size, anything else you can think of.

2. Top 3 locations and presentation.

3. Would you Sucker fish? Quick strike of course.

4. Percentage of time pitching vs. trolling?

5. Top 3 choices for evening meal.

6. Cigar, or Champagne, if I am fortunate to get my first over 50"?

Thanks, guys.[;)]

1) Bucktail, jerk, crank, topwater, bait, one light color one dark color of each
2) In the lake, next to the boat, under the water
3) Sucker fish
4) Drifting with bait while playing cards inside of houseboat
5) Steak, chicken, fish
6) Swisher sweet wood tip & brandy old fashion everyday all day

Ps. I haven’t been to Canada for 6 years, but it was on a houseboat, so take my advice with a grain of salt or have tequila with salt.
[:)]
Good Luck

OK,I am by NO means an expert, but here is what I will bring on my trip later this fall.
Top 5 lures:1) 10" Jakes, any color, bring lots and lots for trolling and casting
2) 10" Believers, any color for casting and trolling
3)10" Suicks,I like the fire tiger pattern, but any color should work
4) Big tandem spinners like the M&G and Fudally Stump Hawg and any color...
5)Any lure you have confidense in should work on LOTW,if you have room, bring it.
Top 3 locations, any long point extending into deep water, any west facing bay with sand bank, and any island complex near huge expanses of water.
Sucker rigs,up to you,I will be spending most of my time trolling,so mine will stay at home, plus trying to find bait is another situation...
% of casting/trolling is about 60% trolling and 40% casting but if one is working better than the other, stay with it.
Evening meal is definatelly steak and I would go with the cigar...
Good Luck, let us know how you do on your trip, and,I hope I have helped,Paul

4 more days til we leave. Still haven''t finalized the menu, or the cigar vs bubbly thing. Anybody ever fish with suckers up there? Where did you get them? Man, time is standing still it seems. This is gonna be a long week!

Oh yeah, one meal is going to be 16 oz Filet Mignon, and at least one of Walleye fry. Wife also volunteered to make Lasagna Rollups(yum yum). Other than that, I think it''s going to be Hamburgs, and Brats, fend for yourself type deal. There are going to be 9 of us on the barge, so I''m thinking you eat when you want, except for the 2 or three planned ones.

Thanks for the advice.

Tight Lines,
Shep

A little over 7 hours till we leave. Not being a big cigar smoker, where can these cuban varieties be found. I've heard they're the best, and I know they are not found here. But can you actualy get them in Ontario?

Btw, we'll be having Filet, Lasagna, Brats, Walleye, Hamburgs, Pork loin, raw beef, and BEER!

Tight lines all,

Shep

OK, you asked for it. You can get Cubans in most Canadian tobacco shops. The tried and true smokes that I would get would be Monte Cristo #4`s. Not too long, not too fat, good after dinner smoke, goes good with coffee or whiskey depending on your choice. You could also try any of the Partagas or if you have lots of cash, treat yourself to a Cohiba.
5 lures; 10" Suick
8" Cobb Countdown
Undertaker
6" and 8"Reef Hawgs
Asstd Jakes
Good luck, enjoy the smokes. Beav
