Location: lansing, il | I prefer mono except for the rods I run blades on. Those I run braid. Been using the Hi Seas 40# Quattro Mono for a few years now with zero failures or problems. |

Location: Canada | Made the switch to trolling with mono a few years ago and my boat partner has made the switch this year to mono on his trolling rods. |

| mono stretch way too much to hook fish properly, especially when you troll way behind the boat.we like a tight drag with braid for a good hook set when we cast so it's exactly the same thing for trolling minus the tight drag.another thing is you have to put your lure way too far to get the desired depth compared to braids and this is if you can get that needed depth due to the size of the mono.imho a big zero advantage to mono |

| I use 80 lb braid for regular trolling and 40 lb mono big game for planner boards. |

| I had problems with Big Game knicking and breaking from my planer board clips. I switched to P-Line XXtra Strong. In my opinion it is a far superior line in terms of abrasion resistance and overall strength. I have tested the 30 lb P-Line with approximately 80 lbs of pressure and it would not break. |
