Located in Naperville. For pick-up in Naperville or Chicago (NW side). I am selling this motor as I've recently purchased a boat that came with a newer Mercury kicker. This engine spins like a top every time in and runs great in cold weather.

I purchased the motor in 2010 from a friend who received it after his grandfather passed away. The motor was bought some time ago, used twice on the Kankakee River and then sat in a garage closet until my friend's late grandfather passed in 2009. I've put less than 50 hours on it while fishing 10 horsepower restricted lakes in IL.

I'm asking $700 total for the engine and 1-3 year old accessories (3.0 gal Moeller fuel tank, BPS fuel line, handle extension & Garelick motor mount)

PM me your email and we'll work out a deal.

They stopped making the 9.8hp in 1985. The blue color scheme is more indicative of the late 70's. Whats the serial # on it? Either way it's definitely not a 1998! Sorry..

Hiya,

The motor is a mid 80's of some type.

Sorry fellas- I was told by someone else in the past that the thunderbolt was a late 90's vintage. Didn't mean to false advertise or anything. Here is the serial number: 5207658

Here's a chart that might help. It looks like the motor is a 1979. The serial #'s started with 520 in 1979 then went to 554 in 1980.

Price reduced. Also, I have trips planned to the Chippewa Flowage and Lake Kinkaid this fall if that is a more convenient meeting point.
