Location: Eau Claire,WI | The black one the reel engages on the handle turn,the old one you have to do it yourself. I haven't used the black one but have about 8 of the older ones and love em! |

Location: Almond, WI | I talked to our club's reel guru on Thursday. He has taken a couple apart and cleaned. He said internally they are mostly the same, the biggest change is the auto engage. He also thinks that the auto engage might fix the problem some people had with breaking the clutch spring. In general he said it's basic and overbuilt and should be a good reel. |

| depends on where you leave the reel handle when you cast. It auto engages basically when the reel handle passed the lever for free spool (casting lever). It has a better drag system as well...the LW20H-C is a good reel for the money...great reels for throwing big rubber. |

| Yes Kirby, or, rather it only engages on one particular spot.
So if you're half an inch "in front of" the engage spot it will engage quickly, if you're half an inch "behind" it will take almost a full turn. |
