Location: South East Wisconsin | I would like to replace my rails on my boat (Ranger 681). I currently have two rails which are approximately 51” long. They are the older style rails with four Stanchions. The stanchions are weak and made out of pot metal. Two snapped on me last season therefore I want to get rid of them. I am contemplating on new rails (solid stanchions) or going with Traxstech. Questions I have how many of you are running Traxstech? I run six rods what would be an adequate amount of track needed to run six? Can I get by with a 36” track? Will there be enough space in between the three rod holders? I know some people who run Traxstech and they love it due do its simplicity. What other pros / cons are there for Traxstech vs. Rails? |

| I run 8 rods and my rails are around 36" granted I don't turn the holders. I have my rods hanging out straight across and tilt the holders up over
the rail to get my spread.

| I use Traxstech tracks and have for years. Its very easy and fast to take your rod holders off boat when your not using them.
You could put the 36" track on each side and run 3 rods on each with out a problem.

Location: lansing, il | Shawn, go with the Traxstech system. You will love it. 36" is no problem to run 3 rods per side. I have 36" and I run a downrigger and 3 board rods with no problem. This year I added trees which will really spread things out and give me the ability to run even more. Its nice because it helps you stay real versatile and can change out very quick. Location: 31 | 36" will be plenty long for 3 Downeast rod holders, and the Traxstech should be able to hide most of the old rail holes... you could also install a flush mount Downeast to cover the last set of holes. I'm don't think you can quickly pivot them with that system like with a rail mount though.
