| I'm going to start using Fluorocarbon Leaders and would like to know what is the smallest pound test that we could get away with? We fish primarily southern WI, IL, KY,IN,MI, basically waters with fish under 50". |

| I used some 20lb florocarbon this year on a few rods. Worked great and not cut offs. Its tripple the diameter then reg 20lb mono.
But if you are pounding structure...50lb or better I would suggest.[;)] |

| I too was thinking of 50-70. Took a guy out this fall and he was using 100, this was my 1st exposure. I think it's great stuff, especially when tied to wire. Thanks for your input. |

| Jerry, I make mine out of 80lb. We have made some 60lb ones for casting. I have had no troubles with them. I also crimp the 80lb. I hope this helps. |

| Been using them for two years now without a bite off or breakage.(KNock on wood). I wouldn't go any lighter than 60 lb test. I use 80lb. and never a problem. |

| Jerry,
I bought and used some fluorocarbon leaders from Thorne Bros. this year. It was my first run with them. They were great. I know I will be stocking up on more of them this year from those guys. I think they were either 80 or 100#. Had a few mutiple fish days on the same leader without even a nick. I'm sold on them. On a side note their (Thorne Bros.) jerkbait leaders were also kick ass. I like the idea of 50 or 60#. Hope this helps.

| Jerry,
I use the 100# leader and my reel is spooled with 40# fluoro. This stuff is tuff. It also has a limited stretch that just makes certain baits act differently. Also my favorite lake turns gin clear for about 2 mons. in late Spring, so fluoro gives me a stealthy advantage. Its larger dia. will dull the action of most glide baits so wire may be a better choice for those applications. |
