Can anyone give me a review of the st croix avid baitcaster. Who is the reel made by? How do you like it etc? Thanks

its a diawa luna basicallly. i have a few of them. Like them quite a bit.. I haven't had the anti reverse go out on mine like alot of people say, but i also take care of my stuff. they are smooth reels. the only reel i like better is my 400b

Same guts as the Daiwa Luna 300. I really like mine, about every 2 seasons I have to switch out my AR bearing (roller clutch) but other than that no problems, smooth reel. Actually prefer it over the calcutta 400b (which is a very nice reel too).

I'm interested in these reels also, is a guy better off spending the money for a Luna or does the St.Croix hold up?

It's the same. Go with price and service. Can you either for under $230? Do you have a reel repair guy locally or can you maintain your own?

Luna and SC both had the same issues.

I do all my cleaning and lubing, just not very good at troubleshooting problems and finding parts. The place I used to bring my reels to closed down. Probably end up going to Thorne Bros.
