Subject: Sight fishing river muskies?

Last week I musky fished a river for the first time for a couple hours where I saw 5-6 musky out of one pool but none would take a lure. Any ideas of what you would throw in this situation where you can see them sitting up under the bank but they just don't seem to want to take a lure? Could live bait be the key? I had several different musky follow but none seemed aggressive. FYI I have to fish this place from the shore which makes it difficult to figure 8. Thanks for any input.

Jig and creature or a wacky rigged worm would be my choice.

Creepers more nicely on fish like those, might want to try a glider worked aggressively across the surface as well. If you're seeing that many fish together this time of year might be running into spawn fish, which can be tricky depending when you find them. Try the spot right at dark as well or early morning, might be surprised how different their mood will be on time of day.

Work a glider in front of its nose will often trigger a territorial strike.

I was shown the light of sight fishing for river muskies by Tuffy1 a few years ago. We mostly used a jig/reaper or a tube and would cast just past the fish, let the bait sink down to the bottom, then literally shake the rod just enough to make the bait dance a bit. If the fish didn't move on it, we'd crawl the bait along a few feet then shake it again. I'd never fished like that before and was blown away by the results, not to mention how cool it was to watch them flare their gills and inhale the lure. Heck, it wouldn't have mattered if we didn't catch a single fish that day because it was a blast to stalk them all over the sand flats.
