| I'm looking at upgrading my trolling motor to a minnkota powerdrive v2 24v 70lbs thrust and I'm not sure what all I need. I know 2 new batteries. I know getting thicker gauge wire but I don't know if i should use 6 or 8. Circuit breaker, fuses, connectors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| Bigger is better and you will need a circuit breaker. Whatever motor you buy will recommend what size breaker |

I always soldered the ends too after crimping when I did the wiring myself as it eliminates places where water can get into the wire and start corroding. Heavier wire is better if you have a longer run, like front to back of the boat, but if you are just a few feet away from the socket it doesn't make that noticeable a difference. |
