Yes, I have used them alot for casting. both day and night.
Night time they are great to straight crank over the tops of weeds or rockpiles hits tend to be very hard. I always use a 8'6" XH throwing MX9's they have alot of pull and give off a ton of vibration.
Daytime I use them 2 ways- one, as a straight cranker with some speed, seems to trigger strikes even late into the fall.
Two, I use them as a jerk or twitch bait also. Sometimes with a long sweep of the rod or sometimes with a fast twich. They are fairly buoyant so they are great to swim in and around cover. Alot of times you grind in to heavy weeds let it float up and the fish smoke it right off the top.
