I have a 2003 Powerdrive. Just doesn't seem to have the same pull it used to. I would guess it was pulling at half strength the other day and i checked the battery and it was still at 70%. I'm starting to think the motor needs some attention. Has anyone ever taken one apart and replaced the motor or are the bearings maybe just going bad?

Thanks for any replies.

I believe they sell a bushing kit and other motor parts for Minnkotas on their website.

i was actually thinking mine is losing power too...I use to be able to move my boat in just about any wind when I had it on 6 but now it doesn't seem to pull as strong..I know it's not the batteries...? just seems to not be as powerful/strong...

You've checked the obvious I'm sure...removing the prop and clearing line or other obstructions.

My buddy has a '03 (mine is an '04). At the begining of this year he was having a loss of power issue as well. Replaced the bushings and it made a significant improvement. Thinking I might do the same before the end of the year preemptively.

I did some digging and found a copy of a minnkota repair manual that has most every model in it. Tells you how to take apart the lower unit. And lots of good troubleshooting.
