Just sent my Record back for the 3rd time and they offered to "upgrade" me to a 6500 Inshore. Anyone have any experience with these? The lady at Pure Fishing said that it is the strongest reel they make for musky fishing due to the fact that they use SS gears in them.

I have the old 6500 big game reel, the black one from about 6 years ago. it has stainless gears in it, and they suck! they seem to last about half the time as the brass gears. hopefully they have improved the gears since then. Stainless is more brittle than brass.

If you Big Game reel has stainless gears then it also has a 6.3 to 1 gear ratio which is not the best idea for general purpose musky reel. The Inshore has a 5.1/1 gear ratio.

Pure fishing replaced one of my Big Game reels with a 6500 Inshore, the juries still out on that though, I have not used it enough to tear it up --yet.

I have one and I have beat it pretty hard for 6 days so far. Other than ripping the nut off the handle, which I fixed with the gator grip nylon handle, the rest of the reel has held up very well. So far I think it stands up to the abuse.
