when I got done with a couple quick pics after unhooking and started putting my tackle back together, I found that my mangled bootail was missing one of the front trebles. It was a suicide hit from this fish, coming from below, behind, and slightly to the right of the bait, accelerating and gulping the bait, then turning away, resulting in a near perfect hookup for me, evidently not quite so good for the fish. I am guessing I broke the hook off myself during unhooking, though a straightened back treble may have implicated the fish itself, during the fight.

That fish destroyed the lure in a fine fashion, FSF. Where you fishing, wandering angler?

Back in KY now. Rough weather mix up there this summer for you guys!

Jay Lip ripper, I was just noting that I didn't realize that a hook point was broken
off during the process of hooking and releasing this fish, and I don't know what
happened to it. Fish was back in the drink before I discovered it was gone, very possibly with a hook point in him, pointed who knows where?

I was just wondering why the fish and the net are in the boat

WAIT A SECOND, wait a second!!! You mean fish will still hit a bucktail without double 10s or larger. Who would have ever guessed! Or is the second blade just not visible in the picture?

Cool pics FSF, it is very cool what these fish can and will do. I guess that’s why we get so obsessed with them.

Dave,
Don't worry, FSF knows how to handle a fish. He wouldn't abuse a muskie any more than he'd abuse me....well, OK, then maybe he'd make fun of the thing.
