Muskerboy,
Sorry for not giving more info. They are all made of maple and weigh in at about 2.85oz and they are 8" long. The carp is 6", 2.35oz and it will get a short, square bill. They are all floaters except for the carp which is a slow sinker. I sealed them with propionate, painted with createx, and the are currently being top-coated with the second coat of etex. I'm probably going to do 4 coats total.

From the looks of the baits you have tapered the front and the tail. How are you doing that?

I taper the blanks using a disc sander. When they are cut out, I draw a line down the sides of the blank perpendicular to the lateral line, two inches in from the head and tail. I then draw lines on the head and tail about 1/8" on each side of the hole for the screw eye. Then, I use a router to round over the edges. After routing, I use the disc sander to sand a taper from the line down the side of the blank to the mark that I drew beside the screw eye hole. I've found that the lure perform a little better with a taper to them- like real fish.
Hope that all makes sense,
jeremy
I just test fit a lip in the carp, threw it in the creek and a nice smallie hit it on the first cast!
