| Hello guys
I'm looking to get another stcoix setup this year a twitchin rod set up with a low pro reel.any suggestions on which reel?I was looking at the curado an revo toro.but I heard from a lot of anglers that abu reels have horrible drags?I never fished an abu only calcuttas an lunas.but I would like something small that I can rip baits all day without getting. A crab claw hand.any imput would be much appretiated.
Also have you put time in with the reels suggested
?how they hold up?

| Abu drags are just fine. For about the last 4 or 5 years they have used a carbon matrix drag washer that is as good as anything on the market. The Revo reels get a whole bunch of praise from the bass guys for there drags. Granted they are only catching green carp but a lot of these guys are using 50 or 65lb. line and horsing in the bass.
The Revo also has 24lbs. of drag which is a crazy amount of drag, most other musky reels max out at 12-18lbs. of drag. |

| The Curado will fit your needs quite fine(IMO). A small, but tuff as nails reel, for sure. I've never used the new Toro, but I'm sure other guys can chime in on that.

| You'll love the Curado. I have one for fishing gliders and walk-the-dog topwaters and love it. Those baits require a lot of wrist movement which in turn causes your grip to tighten and cause the "bear claw" you described. I got one for my Dad whose hands get tired after holding the bigger round-style baitcasters. It was one of the best gifts I could have given him. I wish I had the money to buy him another (or two) and phase out his other reels. |

| The Toros are very new. With some time the Toro may rise to the top, but until that happens...the Curado 300 is THE best low profile musy reel available.

| call me crazy but it works great for me! the "lightest" of my three combos consists of an 8' 10" croix legend rod built on the bass mega swimbait blank coupled with a small shimano curado 201dhsv reel with an 11 lb. drag rating, 7:1 gear ratio that weighs in around 7.5 ounces! with 65lb. braid i use it for small bucks, twitchbaits, rattlebaits, etc. that combination weighs in at about 15 ounces total! less than some rods / reels alone! i've never had a single problem with my two 4 year old "round" daiwa luna 300's on my mid & heavy weight combos so no reason to switch those out...

Location: Chicago | I have a Curado 300 on an 8' St Croix premier it's by far my favorite setup. The reel is very well put together, extremely comfortable to use and have had no problems what so ever. As a matter of fact was watching the fishing shows saturday morning and I saw a guy ( Larry Dahlberg?) using it to catch sailfish, it was pretty cool. |
