Posts: 107 Location: milwaukee | Been trying to update an LMS-337CDF to the latest firmware without sucess. Lowrance.com instructions state: Turn your Lowrance LMS-337C DF unit off. Place the MMC/SD card containing the updated operating software in the unit's MMC/SD card tray. Turn your LMS-337C DF unit on. The software update will automatically install. Nope. Still stuck at 1.2 after several attempts. Was able to update the LCG2000 unit via same MMC card, per their warning: Warning: If you have an LGC-2000 GPS receiver/antenna connected to your unit, please update the LGC-2000 at this link before proceding with the update on this page. That worked fine, so I think my means/methods are correct. I have an email into Lowrance tech support, hoping I don't have to call. Any ideas?

Posts: 107 Location: milwaukee | Tried it with both Win XP and Linux, with the Web installer and download/local install. None of those four scenarios work the way the instructions say. Got this email from Lowrance: "If you have already updated your LGC-2000 with version 1.9.0, then you would just need to place the .bin and .ldr files on the card and then insert that into your unit and your unit should automatically start the download without you having to do anything. You should see a white progress bar go across the screen and start uploading the files." It's the "..your unit should automatically start the download without you having to do anything" part that doesn't work. My unit powers up normally with the MMC in the slot, no progress bar or anything. I don't get it.

Posts: 5874 | Are the .bin and .ldr in the root directory of the SD card? If not, that would be one reason this is not woreking for you.

Posts: 107 Location: milwaukee | Yep, files (.bin, .ldr and 'update.lop') are defintely on the card, and in the root directory. I can see them on the computer and via the LMS browse function. Made a few more attempts today: Formatted the card in Win XP (FAT and FAT32). Could not see in the LMS menus where I could format the card in the unit, but will dig out the manual and try that if possible. Tried a second card, although the same manufacturer (PNY). Maybe I'll beg/borrow/buy a different mfg card and try again - although the LCG update did work with these cards. I'm going to contact Lowrance again and see if they can send me older update versions to see if I can creep up on 1.9. I'm guessing there is a bug in 1.2 that won't allow a direct update to 1.9. I appreciate all of the ideas so far. Keep 'em coming.... Edited by EsoxRookie 11/12/2008 9:53 PM

Posts: 107 Location: milwaukee | Success. After no luck trying two new SD cards, I went back to step one and re-installed the LCG-2000 update first. Then the LMS update auto-installed as advertised on the first attempt. So, it appears I had a faulty LCG update that prevented the LMS v1.9 update from auto-starting. I distinctly remember receiving the "Update Sucessful" message on the first LCG update, but it obviously didn't 'take' due to a bad card or whatever.
