Alright guys, I did a quick search so don't yell at me.
I have a cedar glider that I used the solo cups sealer on, Then glued on some foil.Next put one coat of devcon on.Wet sanded, painted,Put in the oven to warm it up. Then applied enviro-tex lite on it. Now as it is spinning to cure it looks like there are spots were the E.T.L. has smooth craters in it like a bubble has popped. but I see no bubbles.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Joe
As I write this, I'm starting to think the paint didn't dry all the way. Any body else with this problem?

Did you wear gloves or did you touch the lure with bare hands ?If you didnt use gloves there could be grease from your hands on the lure contaminating the surface

you are experiencing what is known as fisheyes.
it is caused from oils on the surface interferring with your topcoat. you will need to sand and re-cot your lure to cover these up.

to prevent these from occurring you musn't handle your lures with bare hands between paint layes and final coatings.

I used my needle nose vise grips to hold the lure while painting, then went to the oven, right to clear coat. I'm starting to think I didn't wait long enough for the paint to dry. or the oven over did it. I guess it was good practice anyhow. Thanks for the replies.

1. Ditch the solo cups
2. Use sanding sealer or polycrylic instead of the solo cups
3. No need to sand between coats
4. Use 2-3 coats of etex...Devcon will work too.

Monarch, I am VERY careful & make sure not to touch the lure with bare hands between painting & coating but always end up with "fish eyes" on every lure I coat, wether its with Devcon or Etex , don't know why. I have even left my painted lures to dry in a warm, clean room for 3- 7 days before finishing; doesn't make any difference. Like Riverman says, do 2-3 coats as this will reduce the problem. With Devcon at least I've had success with mixing & thinning a small batch then adding a small drop into the void with the point of a toothpick then leaving the lure, void up, somewhere undisturbed for a few hours.
