Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Without getting personal, i would avoid that website. PM me for more information as I do not want to be banned for trash talking. I live about 20 mins from the lake and I fish out there rather often. A friend who is VERY reliable, told me that Mr. Welch had his guide license revoked by the state, and that is why he now guides in Kentucky. The meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at 7 at the Eagle Creek Resort area.Check out the Shelbyville Musky club at http://www.shelbyvillemuskie.com/
He will just tell you to throw two jigs on one line and reel slowly until you "feel a bite". He snags 98% of his fish in the sides and calls them catches.

| Shelbyville typically has two peak times during the year: April-May and September to the end of October. The "rule of thumb" is troll in the spring or hit the main lake points and cast the coves in the fall. The lake is VERY hot and cold. One day it can be ON FIRE, and the next you question if there are any fish in the lake. That said, it is a sweet lake to fish before Memorial Day and after Labor Day (outside of the big pleasure boat season).
There are no "well established" weeds like on Kinkaid or pretty much any other lake for that matter, so it can be difficult to adjust to. If you have fished Green River in Kentucky or even Kinkaid you could probably approach Shelbyville in much of the same matter and have success fishing it.

i would love to join but i live 3 hours north and would never make it to the meetings unless they got changed to a fri sat or sun. |
