Location: Illinois | I'm wondering about using these new "snaps" that I picked up from the Musky Show. They are designed for lures with small eyelets. My question is, would it be wise to trust this product or should I stick with a splitring and staylock snap? They are rated at 150#, but the configuration makes me nervous a bit.
Has anybody else checked these out, and what are your thoughts?

Location: lansing, il | we will be testing them out on our stealth leaders this spring. knowing bernard he is not going to put somthing out there unless it is a quality item! sure will make changing baitsnice come nov and december! |

| Good idea, but once the leader gets bent, kinked, twisted, you have to to throw away the whole thing.
You can't change out these snaps like you can with the Stay-Loc's. |

Good point, Guest. You could, however clip this kind off and replace it with a Stay Lock, couldn't you?

Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Not sure I would trust those...It looks as though the loop in your lure just kind of "snaps" past the bend...
I think I would be spending some time with those on dink northerns that twist and roll all over before I would put those on my muskie stuff. It just doesn't look as safe to me... I have not seen them up close, but it looks too easy for the bait to potentially work it's way off.

Location: lansing, il | while a fluoro leader can get nicked at anytime, with our 130# fluoro leaders i constantly get people telling me that the leaders by far outlast the snaps. i have more than a few guys telling me they put 20-30 fish in the boat on one leader! while only having to change the snap out occasionally. so i figure if this new snap/connector, outlasts a normal stay lok, we shouldnt have any problems getting normal use out of them combined with our leaders. we are going to put them to the test this spring, and hopefully with a little cooperation from some fish we will be able to draw a conclusion. i also have a few guys already lined up to take some on some spring pike trips to try em out on some snot rockets too. ill try to keep an update going on them. bernard told me these things have been in use for 3 years prior to this year before selling them, so they have been put to the test already. |
