Posts: 427 Location: Wausau | Here we go...hoping to use the knowledge of others to benefit myself. I know the drill, I know the protocol, I know how it goes...once again, some yahoo taking the easy way out. Yet, those who may know me, know that I work hard and smart about fishing and will be more than willing to offer help to those who ask. I am planning a late October trip to Vermillion. Although I have had good success in July, this will be my 1st fall trip. I am asking for advice/opinions on where to fish and even more so, where I may likely find schools of spawning cisco. Of course I have my own thoughts and ideas, but would like comparisons. Cisco Burgers = Fat Girls. Here is my July girl, that I'm hoping put on 10 more pounds. Posts: 16 Location: Detroit Lakes | A lot of the good spots have nets in them and it can be a real pain in the arse. I was up there the last weekend in October last year and it snowed most of the time. Saw one fish in 3 days and it was a 53.5 X 27, caught on the 8, and it was 9 degrees out. I know its gonna be packed up there the last weekend in October this year. Im leaving for there in 3 hours!!!!

Posts: 16 Location: Detroit Lakes | A lot of the resorts are open all year. The casino can hold a lot of the people. I will be staying at a resort on the east end.

Posts: 5874 | Hope you get that same fish this fall! If you are going to be over the full moon, I believe that is a trigger for the ciscoes to spawn. I remember fishing Okauchee with Kly a couple times in Ocotber during the full moon, and the ciscoes were all schooled up. 65 FOW, they were so thick at 22', that my sonar thought they were the bottom! Had a real pig hit a sucker I was dragging low and slow. Whiffed on the second hookset, but the first stopped me like I was snagged!
