Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | Headed to Gogebic July 1. Never been there before. Any muskies??? I have never heard anyone mention muskises and Gogebic in the same sentence. If not, whats the best bet??? Smallies, Walleyes, .....Trout????? Would like to get some of the kids in the family on fish of any kind.

Location: Bloomington, MN | Sorry, no muskies in Gogebic. Beautiful body of water, but as of 2 years ago walleye fishing was tough. I would focus in on smallies and/or go to the north east end and fish pike in the rushes. I'm basing this off of a walleye guide that I talked to in 2005 that does the trolling thing with a big boat, and he stated it was the worst year he has ever had. The lake is known to produce some big perch through the ice, but not in open water??? Be sure to do the run up to the Porkupine Mountains. |

Location: Bloomington, MN | I'm sure the big perch are catchable year round, but the 2 lbers that they get late in the ice fishing season has been a hit and miss deal as of 2005. If the fine state of Michigan would stock muskies in that body of water, I would do all I could to buy some lake front property on that lake. During the winter the north end can get as much as 3 to 4 feet more of snow than the south end due to the proximity to Superior. If there is a moderately strong wind from the north or the south when the lake has open water, the lake becomes almost unfishable. |
