| I,m looking at a new boat (used)The guy is selling it for a friend .He don,t know if it is 2 or 4 stroke.Is there some way to I.D. the motor by looking at the serial# or something.Its a 1995 Mercury 60 horse..Thanx. |

| Not sure in what year Mercury first made a four-stroke engine. Probably a two stroke, but it can be identified by the number.

| The 2 stroke will have an oil tank in the cowling, with a sight tube in the front. The fill cap should be on the upper left front of the cowling. |

Location: Otsego, MN | run the motor with some ear muffs on it. If you can taste the gas and get smoked out it's a 2-stroke. |
