I am sick and tired of all the failures I've had with my power dirve. Its time to bite the bullet and go back to a cable drive. My boat is only setup for 24v. I would like to avoid adding a battery and a jumper cable to go to 36v because I will probably have to swap out my 3 bank charger for a 4 bank charger. If I don't swap out the charger I fear I would end up with a dead cranking battery one night after we fished a spot too long and drain it with lights and electronics.

My question is, is 24v Maxxum enough for a 620 in big water or do I really have to bite it and go to the 36v?

Thanks.

I run a PTS 5 by Motor Guide in the 24V.

It runs my 620 just fine. Get the longest shaft and you will be in buisness.

I fished Mille Lac's in 5 footers and it held just fine for hours. We tired out before the batteries quit.

I run a 80lb. maxxum pro on my 619 and it has more than enough power, but if you aren't sure just go with 36volt and get it over with. I wouldn't think that the 619 and 620 would be that different.

i run a 74-24 minn-kota maxum ... long shaft, would prefer the 101-36 for all day big rollers, but under most conditions no problems. the key is to have the long shaft and the 24 volt system is ample, but of course it always pays to go big if you can keep it in the budget. i'm also intrigued though by the motor guide product. front-to-back motion for the trained foot and it looks like they have engineered a higher quality pedal although this comes with limited experience with one. i like it enough to want one though!

my suggestion would be if you get the 24v it should be fine for all day on any water if your batteries are top quality..I'd get 31 sized Trojans in flooded or AGM type and you will be set...
