Fished Cass last year for the first time. Did fairly well withy good size fish (low to mid 40's) but no real super tankers. Looking at the "Lunge Log" I don't see Cass as much as I used to. Certainly doesn't compare to Vermillion or even other local smaller lakes. Am I missing the boat on Cass? Like the people, scenery, everything it has to offer. Why, for such a good sized body of water with a big rep, are there so fish fish from Cass in the 50 inch Lunge Log?

Its just a tough lake, plain and simple. Clear water, lots of water, lots of structure and a fairly low density of fish compared to the "stocked lakes".

Cass along with Leech aren't "IN" anymore. It's funny, I was talking to Murph the other day and he's telling me that nobody is fishing Leech and Cass. He was saying that you could be the only guy fishing Portage Bay somedays. Everyone's going to Vermillion and Mille Lac. It isn't the easiest lake to fish, but the number of truely incredible fish in the Mississippi chain are amazing.

Cass does have indian netting and I know for a fact that they are killing muskies. Now are the killing any more then they always have? I don't know.

#*#* I even went to Leech twice last summer, Cass once.
Simply cause it is nice place to go and fishen is just as good.
People are funny, goofy and very predictable.
Go far away for what can be right in their back yard.

At the state fair I stand and look into the sky.
Two, three minutes later I walk away and look back.
60 people in same area trying to see what I was looking at.

Some goofy #*#* people do.

Take some time, learn Cass a bit more, never quit and you will do well.

Inc. Lung log is just numbers on paper.

My grandpa used to do that downtown on his lunch hour back in the '50's. He and his friends would go out on the corner by the restaurant, look up, point, talk back and forth, point again, and then go eat and watch the herd...

Sometimes there'd still be people there looking up when he went home at night

None of 'em had any idea what they were lookin at, but they were lookin...

Geez, a few years ago Cass was giving away big fish, and now it's The Dead Sea? How sad.
I fished it last year, and though I didn't boat any big fish, I had opportunities. In fact, I have had many opportunities on that body of water over the last few years. Last year it was tough, with the severe heat and the ugly looking weeds that looked moldy in September. Last year I also noticed big leeches swimming in every area of the lake that I fished. What's up with that? Is that because of the heat too? Something was just weird last year....my opinion.
The year before, with a very cold summer, the lake was producing nice fish. Big, fat muskies and pike. Fall looking fish in the first week of September, and very healthy green weeds.
The walleye fishing was good last year.
The pan fishing was good. Finding perch without parasites is a real challenge.
The pike and the skis were tough to come by, but I'm never writing that lake off.
I'm certain that there are still monsters in her, and the mid-forties of 2 years ago will be the biggies of this year.
Spread the word that it's a sewer, please. I can always do with less pressure.
Who knows who will be the "Hot Lake" next year?

Hey Guys,

Yeah the same thing what muskie treats said. I was at the last Fargo/Moorhead meeting
and Dan Craven said the same thing about Leech, That some days he would be the only one
fishing in Portage Bay. He said that Vermillion and Mille Lacs get pounded. I still think that
Leech and Cass have just as good of fishing as the knew hot spots and maybe evan bigger
fish. So if Leech and Cass aren't the favorites what wrong with that you have more of the
lake to yourself.
