| I saw your response to the Muskies Inc. thread and it got me wondering. How are you guys coming along with convincing the DNR to keep stocking pure strains in the city chain of lakes? I am still having trouble coming to grips with their "quotas are being met and we are going to stock only tigers" B.S. I wish the powers at be would stop penalizing us just because Rod Ramsell created a great fishery without their permission, typical DNR power trip behavior. I think you know what I mean! | what if I told ya in a couple years theres a chance the tiger season may open the same time has pike ,walleye and youd get out two weeks earlier every year for a "designated tiger lake only" season would that be worth it????? or I too agree,, In fact if you want I can have you come address our board meeting about persuing this it carrys more impact if we get a general member to suggest it has a project and weve had this happen many times,,,right now get everybody you know who cares to Call Dave Zappitillo at the DNR and bend his ear about this,,, | |||

| The tiger season being open earlier is fine but it should be open all year long already. That can't be disturbed when spawning since they are sterile anyway. Would the city lakes even qualify for that plan anyway? There are still some low 30 inch class fish in their. Has the DNR given those fish a death sentence I should be aware of? I wouldn't have any problem coming to address the board but I am not a member. | |||

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | DJS, George Selcke of the MMA and I spoke with Ron Payer (Head Fisheries Guy) and another DNR official a month ago. One of he topics was the tiger lakes. I basically told them that their resources would be better spent stocking pure strain muskies. They listened half heartedly to that request. That's one topic I plan on pounding for as long as it takes to get it changed. BTW, ALL the tigers stocked this year were from a 3rd party source. It doesn't appear that the MN DNR even raises tigers anymore. Shawn Kellett Pres TC Chapter MI Edited by Muskie Treats 1/26/2006 7:24 AM

| I am extremely glad to hear that you plan on emphasizing this issue. Do you think a petition involving wording to support the continued stocking of pure strains in the Minneapolis chain would do any good? I have never written a petition but I am sure I could give it a go. I think it would be hard for them to ignore something with a couple of hundred signatures on it. The Extreme Expo and the expo in Blaine would be a nice place to circulate it. I could throw a couple of drafts up here and have everyone take a look at it and see what they think of the wording. Your focusing on this issue has motivated me to finally join MI, sorry I haven't been a member. Dave Sdano | |||

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | I think this would be good to bring to the MMA as well. That way all the chapters of MI can look at it and sign it. If you're going to be at the Extreme Expo this weekend look me up. I'll probably be around the Mojo Tackle booth for a while. -Shawn
