Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | I plan on replacing the drag washers on several reels this off seasson. All but one are Abu-Garcias, various models. What is the best place to get replacement washers?

Location: Ogden, Ut | I've used both the extreme Smooothies (from Smoothdrag) and the regular Abu drag washers and to be perfectly honest, if I manage to keep oil/grease away from the Abu ones, I really can't tell much of a difference.

Location: Eau Claire, WI | What Sorrenson says is the key to getting longer life on original factory washers on Garcia's. Unfortunately, they often have too much oil/grease on them right out of the box.
That being said, I run Smoothie Ultra's in all my reels (probably a dozen or so). I get quite a few years of good performance from them.
Go to the site that Theedz recommended and you can order direct. Another place to get them is from Sportsman's Repair in Mosinee, WI, I also suspect that Chuck Nelson at Nelson's Choice Sport Shop in Rhinelander might stock them since one of the services he offers is reel repair/service. |

Location: NeverNever Lake | Penn seems to be punching out most standard replacement sizes now. They are an open fibre washer unlike anything out there. They hold well and start-up without chatter. http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/ has them in stock and recommends them over smoothies and sells both....... |

| No pro, but I'be been very satisfied with Smooothies, especially the new metal guys. A great source is Hatterass Outfitters, who sell an amazing selection of "reel candy" for 5000, 6000 and 7000 series Abus. Plus, Tres will provide detailed installation instructions, including information on proper lubrication. Anybody can do it. |

| I ordered replacement washers for my abu reels from Mikes Reel Repair this year as well and have been quite pleased.
The difference is pretty amazing, the stock factory Abu drag washers are junk.... |
