Posts: 32954 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Optima's are the ultimate, from there it's pretty much a wash, I think. I use thye Wal Mart batteries in the 1690, and Optimas in the big rig. Both threat me well, but I bet the Optimas will last longer. They charge faster, seem to give more active service per charge. They are expensive, but in this case you get what you pay for.

Posts: 642 Location: mount prospect illinois | Thanks for the replies, This will probably be fast since my son wants to go fishing tomorrow. I heard a while an back issue with optimas and "regular"charging systems? I never heard anything verifying it or if it was not true. I know about optimas and i am thinking of it. Dunno if i will go for the cheaper Walmart ever start batteries for the short term or go with long tern quality. Bass pro carries optimas dont they? In the Chicago area that is

Posts: 1243 Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | I've had good luck with the Everstart batteries from Wal-Mart. I don't know what the typical battery life is. But I have the same trolling motor setup as you with a 1650 Fish Hawk. My batteries are 3 years old and I haven't seen any noticeable loss in power since I bought them. I fish pretty hard too, averaging about 500 hours per year over that span. So I've given them a workout. Aaron

Posts: 323 | Dave, Contact an Interstate dealer. We have one near our home and they sell reconditioned batteries at 1/3 the cost of new. I always use them for my truck and boat and have not had any problems. The recons are just a used case with new guts and plates installed. They can't sell them as new so they discount them. They warranty them for 1 year instead of the two years with a new but at 1/3 the price of new, its a steal. The owner of the dealship also said that they don't have any more warranty problems with them than new ones. I paid $50 for two 27 series deep cycle for my Tuffy last season and another $25 for a battery for my Tahoe this spring. Those same batteries new would have been around $225. Now I have more money for baits, beer or gas...........................TC
