Was wondering what would be a good topwater rod and also use as a crankbait rod? I would like something in the 7'6''-8' range.

A another good choice would be the st. croix avid 7'6'' medium heavy. It is a little softer, good for topwater and bucktail.

This year I'll use a custom built 7' heavy action for the straight retrieve baits, and a Fig Rig 7' model heavy action for the walk the dog style baits.

I like using a 7'6 Med Heavy St Croix , has great back bone and also a little tip play, so it can absorb the hook up.I find to stiff and you are pulling hooks away or out of the fish.
