Yesterday with the weather in the sixties I finally was able to get out with my new fishing partner Henry the musky fishing beagle. Everything was going great the first few hours, until all of the sudden we hear a yelp and he has a hook in the end of his nose, which we got out quickly and we were able to continue our day and he did pretty good. In the haste though I knocked overboard a favorite combo, which will be my next topic. Al

Puppies, Kids and Some Adults are curious creatures always keep a clean boat with everything in it's place, if it's not being used put it away and there will be less chance for accidents plus if you need something you will know where it is

I have a 5.5 month old Golden I've taken out about 5 times now..she is a good boat dog but I find the best thing to do is I take a 5 foot leather leash out with me and I tie her to one of the seat pedestals or one of the cleats to get her out of the way of baits/rods etc....
she doesn't seem to mind and she lays down or just watches the scenery...I take out some rawhide chewys to keep her busy too...

I had my pup out with me last summer and fall. I always kept my baits in the back of the boat, and any unused rods. I then put the leash around the front pedestal so he could only stay in the front. Bring lots of toys with, and rawhide rocks!!! (but they can get stinky, the dog that is, from the rawhide. )

Also, make sure others are aware of what to do in the boat with their equipment as well.

The lure wraps are a great idea. You can get them at Rollie and Hellens, or maybe BPS, but not sure about the size there.

Have fun and take lots of pics.

Teach the dog to go to a safe spot on command. I have a pad that my dog will go to immediately. It helps a ton when things start to get hairy.

Bring a water bowl and clean water.

Also as mentioned - keep a clean boat.
