Posts: 457 Location: Minneconia | Traded in the Lund on a 618vs Ranger, it still hasn't sunk in yet. Pick it up at the end of the month!! Iowa muskies will never be the same.... I do have a question; I'm going to put my X135 Lowrance in the console and hopefully move the Garmin unit that comes in the 618 up to the bow. Any problems you guys foresee with that? Will I be able to mount the Lowrance in the same console cutout as the Garmin?

Congrats on the purchase!! Edited by Gander Mt Guide 8/5/2004 10:01 AM

Posts: 457 Location: Minneconia | Any suggestions on how to deal with this problem? Do I need to intall a mounting bracket? I'd hate to drill holes in it right off, but I guess I might have to. Any help would be appreciated.

Ive seen Rangers with 182's in the counsel and a 240 in the bow, they didnt really look interchangeable? Is this a new or used rig?

The Lowrance wont hook up to it. If you want the Lowrance on the dash badly enough, you have 2 options: 1) cut the Garmin cable at the ducer and glass in a new Lowrance ducer (kind of a pain in the arse) 2) put an external ducer on the back of the boat (another pain, plus negates the benefits of a thru-hull ducer) My suggestion is to leave the Garmin on the dash and put your Lowrance (looks to be your preferred choice of locater) on the bow. If you are spending most of the time casting in the bow, you will have better access to your preferred locater anyhow. my $.02 congrats on the rig, you'll love it! Posts: 14 Location: Burnsville, MN | Dirt, congrats on the 618vs. I met you up at Angle Out post in July, I had the 618vs and I have a X-15 on the console. Congrats again to your group on the 55. I put a Lowrance X-15 it on the side with a RAM mount and like Greg said a new transducer had to be put in. Grandpa Joe, did all the work, I have the number if needed. A couple of reasons I wanted to change the console unit was the adding of a GPS, which allowed me to drive on the LOTW and see where I was without holding the map in one hand, also the Garmin 160 that was in the dash did not work real well when the motor was running, an noise interference issue. If you have more questions about the 618 send me an email at [email protected]. You will be happy with the boat. Todd
