I will be in Southern Minnesota for work next week. I will be bank bound and only a couple hours in the evening to fish. Are the Fairmont lakes worth trying for muskie from the bank? Is Fox anygood or fishable from the bank? Or am I wasting my time?
Thanks in advance,
Travis

You aren’t going to have much for shore fishing on fox, as far as if it’s a waste of time? Well if watching the sunset, listening to the geese fly overhead and getting some casting in is a waste of time, that’s up to you - there’s always a chance but it’s going to be very unlikely you’ll get action, if you want to get out and enjoy an evening I’d probably just go to the boat launch and throw a few off the dock (assume there is still a dock there, I have not been to the lake in years.) The lake generally had very low visibility (dirty) this time of year, assuming still has poor visibility. Slow top water at sunset would put fish in the net years ago.

Do you know why Fox got so dirty? It apparently wasnt always this way, if what old timers tell me is true.

There is some shoreline access from parks. Don't know anything about what is off of those shorelines, as I have not fished those lakes in years, and not at all since they put muskies in them.

I believe it's the same reason all of the lakes in that area have had water issues. It's all surrounded by farmland, and they have all been silted in with tainted farm run off. That's why they had to dredge all the Fairmont lakes. They were so silted in, they were super shallow and toxic. The dredging did a lot to help bring them back. Now you can actually enjoy the lakes and fish them.
