Posts: 15 | Hello everyone, I will be headed up to Eagle with my Dad and my cousin. Sadly our normal guide we use when going to Eagle Lake Gordon Euler has passed a few years ago. It’s been a while since we have been up there and had to cancel last year due to my Dad’s health. Does anyone have any Recommendations for guides that can do Walleye for my dad and possibly split the time fishing Musky or at least point out spots and lures to visit later? My dad is up there in age and walleye is my priority. What is the going rate for the day, what is now considered a good tip and is it possible to do three in the boat? We are staying at Pine Beach Lodge the week of August 3rd. Just getting the info to discuss it with the group. Also, is there any hot colors or lures currently? Thanks, Mike

Posts: 27 | Cal Ritchie would be a good option for guiding. My buddy used him for Musky trip a few years ago and was impressed. No idea on pricing. I think tipping is up to you as how you felt the guide took care of you guys. Say hi to Rick and Allie at PBL. They are great hosts. We went there for 17 years in a row before my old man got the itch to go back to Minaki where he grew up fishing in the 70s-90s. Have fun. Eagle is an awesome lake!

Posts: 7139 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Steve Herbeck is my number one, very closely followed by Cal, then Scottie Yaeger at North Shore. Only even put in this order becasue of how often I've fished with them!

Posts: 15 | Thanks for all the advise, my cousin ended up getting sick and the storms and wind up here have made fishing a little more difficult. Even the pike are only being caught on crawlers and leeches. I was out voted for the guide but my dad was happy getting his walleye. Maybe if we go back next year. I will save those suggestions. Posts: 8874 | I’ve fished with Cal, Scotty, Herbie, and all the others out of AML, and North Shore Lodge. Great bunch of guys. Shoot me a PM if you want more info on any of them. It all depends on what you’re looking for out of your day - hard core instruction, a barrel of laughs, needle in a haystack fish…. They’ll all put you on fish, and there’s always a chance at a Jumbo, but a different experience with all of them.
