| Going to High Falls and Calderon Falls near Crivitz Wi., would like to try some suckers next week Mon. thru Wednesday. I haven't used suckers in 15 years because I usually don't get to go musky fishing this late in the fall. Any suggestions would be helpful. Al[:0] |

| I'll refrain from bashing and simply tell you what happened to me on Pewuakee last Saturday.
I over paid $5.99 for a Herbie at Smokey's and set the hook hard to find only the leader flying at my face. Just bout fell out of the boat. What a POS rig!!! (Sorry I couldn't hold it in.) |

| JM,
I don't know what happened, but it may have been a fluke. In all honesty I have never used an actual herbie rig, but I make my own exactly the same way.
Mine work great, but I do miss fish some of the time. Never come close to taking a bath though. I would use one hook on suckers smaller than 12" and two for bigger suckers. |

| The crimp job that attached the rig to the leader blew apart on the hood set. I hate to think where the rig (hooks) is today but the leader that was crimped to it came fly out of the water at me. Won't use those again. |

| I was out on Pewaukee when that Herbie Broke. The rigs that I have broken or are now in a fishes mouth are Herbie Rig, Smitty Rig and Pete Maina lift off rigs. I have had all these rigs fail in the last 2 years. I have used the bucher rigs for 5 years and have not had a failure. I heard the above rigs were good, so I tried them, didnt work. The above rigs the crimp fails and while battling a fish the rigs come apart. I am staying with the Quickset and planning on using the Circle hook on perch next year then migrate to bass then muskie.

| But then again R_H your hooksets are legendary....did you leave the ground on that 37"? The best part is when you act like its SHAMU on the end of the line after hooking it..."get it in the net, get it in the net!!!!", all of 3 seconds after setting the hook! But why Mr.T would break a rig is beyond me!

| hi. i tie my own rigs up. and i will never use crimps dont trust them at all. i use 2 hooks on my rigs and i do use the safty pins on them i have had much better hook ups with this style it can be a pain to sit down and solder up all those hooks but it is well worth it.
goodluck. |
