I haven't forgot about you guys first of all! A long time ago i posted about the maxtoro with a St. Croix triumph rod, and rod lengths and all that good stuff. My wallet hates you guys, but i dont, lol. Due to the advice i got, i went ahead and "created" the following combos and they work amazing: 8 foot Mojo Muskie Heavy, and an 8 foot Mojo Muskie Medium Heavy. Both with MaxToro baitcasters. The Medium Heavy does amazing, especially at lure weights below 5.5 ounces, while the heavy allows me to comfortable throw lures up to 8 ounces. So i can utilize both rods to throw exactly what i need them to: The Medium Heavy for lighter bull dawgs, Phantoms, bucktails; the heavy for larger bull dawgs, medussas, and larger phantoms. I was able to repurpose(i sound like a plant manager) my triumph rods for striper fishing and catfishing -- i simply paired them with my 6500 c3 round reels.

I have had semi decent luck with Muskie so far, albeit fishing a part if the river that is more commonly known as a great catfish spot. In the past 2 months though i have only landed 4 Muskie, no longer than 37 inches --BUT i am developing my own style and getting a feel for Muskie fishing that i never had before, because i am comfortable and confident with my gear and what i can throw, and how to work my lures. My issue could maybe be that I'm ishing for Muskie strictly at night because it's cooler(Southwest Virginia Summer), but i have been having a blast. I'll also take one of my catfish rods with me and just have a good ole night. How has everybody else been doing?

I am seriously going to order a power handle for mine, no questions asked, haha. I like the phantoms a lot, they have an amazing motion underwater even if you just real them in, and look amazing if you work them like a jerkbait. What do you like to use?

I have a spare power handle I'd sell, but you might want the unbalanced jigging handle.

i use different lures depending on the situations , i really like gliders too . my quest for the best tool for the job ended this year so now i use 5 combos already equipped with lures on the boat , i love top water too . the power handle maxtoro is on the blade rod ,well see how long it lasts but i am not really a blade man ,and if you use gliders the double handle is best for that but its good to have options .

love the maxtoro cant beat it for the money. Next I would look to get one longer Rod maybe 9ft and get a Highspeed Reel. There are lots of options in 9ft that will Throw anything basically and get yourself something in the 37-42IPT With these three set ups you can throw and work any bait at any speed. Can get a LexaHD or lexaWinn for under $150 7.1 or 8.1 if you watch. Maybe try and Find a Big Nasty used if you don't wanna spend that kind of cash on new, it will basically do it all if it has to..
