Location: Cedarburg, WI. | I currently have a 2013 crestliner 1750 fish hawk - dual counsel with a 90hp merc 4 stroke and a 18p stainless vengeance prop. The prop has a few dings in it but nothing i would consider significant. With 2 people and a full tank of gas i run just shy of 35mph. My question is does seem slow or about right? |

Depending on a few things, I would say with 2 people, their gear and full tank of gas, 35 is probably close. The 1750 can take a 125 if memory serves me correctly, so reaching 40 with the 90 alone would be on the real top high of things.
Couple of questions for you. What are your RPMs when you are alone with just your gear and full of fuel? Reason I ask is that if you are over or under pitched you might find performance is lacking because of set up. I have some ideas to help maybe gain you some speed, but having some numbers will definitely help. So...if you can supply these numbers:
max rpm by specification
Gear ratio of that particular motor
Max RPMs and speed you get with just your gear and full tank of gas

| I've always run tiller boats, but IMVHO, if you don't go close to max horsepower with a console boat, you are going to suffer with speed significantly. You have way more weight up front so you will plow more if you don't go max hp. I get 33-35 with my old Lund Pro Angler tiller with 60 2 stroke Mariner. But I think it is because it is propped right and the weight is distributed better. |

| I'd say that's pretty close as well.
I have a 17' Starcraft Superfisherman with a 115 4 stroke. Loaded with gas and gear I can get about 40mph, well used too but that's another thread.
Prop will make a huge difference. It all depends if you are making long rungs and willing to give up some holeshot. |

Thanks for the info guys. I am not disappointed in the speed. Just had a friend tell me he thought that was slow for my setup. I was throwing this out to see what others thought. Admittedly I am a bit ignorant on the subject and want to rule out having some bad motor/prop combo or setup issue. |

| I have a 1999 Crestliner 1750 with a 90 hp Johnson 2 stroke on it. I get 38 mph GPS alone or with a buddy and fishing gear. Just have a standard aluminum prop. Not sure of the pitch. |

Location: Cedarburg, WI. | Just a update if anyone was curious. I went from a 18p to 16p and it is a world of difference. I rev out to just shy of 6200rpms now, get out of the hole way faster and run just shy of 39mph. Never thought a prop would make such a difference. Thanks for the feedback guys. |
