Looking at a boat with a 2007 mercury pro xs 225 horse. Any feedback on this motor? Has a brand new lower unit on it and just over 200 hrs.

Blew up my 2012 250XS. Was really happy with the motor until the powerhead went bad. If you decide to go with one make sure you give the motor enough time to warm up in cooler water. With that being said I know a lot of walleye pros run them. I switched over to a Verado and will never go back to a 2 stroke.

Great motor if it has been well maintained. Make sure you run the fuel additives all the time and as bbradley said let it warm up.

I would definitely prefer a 4 stroke but looking at a 619 with this motor. Hard to find a 619 in general and not sure how long I want to wait for one with a 4 stroke.

Motors are motors, if it's been treated decent it should be good to go for a long time. Why does it have a new LU?

Was told it was making a bad noise. Not from hitting something

Well if he regularly surfaced the prop jumping waves it is very hard on them. I would question regular maintance and care like winterization.
