Posts: 240 | I would go with the Opti especially if you intend on keeping it for some time. Merc’s DFI runs at 80 psi while Yamaha's runs at 1000 psi. Having worked a little in the hydraulic and fluid pumping industry, I know that with more pressure comes more problems. With some of the fluids that I sell, there is a requirement of high pressure pumping. Other fluids require lower pressures. The Higher the pressure you have to use, the more maintenance that is required on the system to keep it going. High pressure is hard on hoses, couplings, seals, gaskets and check valves. I have seen the kind of wearing that high pressure does to these systems and it is not good. Go with the Opti and I am sure you will be happy in the long run. Cory

I bought a sportfish 1850 this may. I bought the merc opti 135. With standard prop I run 45 mph with plenty of power out of the hole. Great gas efficiency. I went with the 135 because I did not want to have a kicker on the back to troll for those rough fish (walleye). It trolls down to 1.8 mph. I am very happy with the boat and the motor. Enjoy!
