Not sure there are any ideas floating around but does anybody have any home remedies on how to remove hook/boat rash from your rods?

I'm not sure there is to much that can be done about rods.

Autosol scratch remover. Takes a little time but works wonders just don't expect miracles if scratches are deep.

Got a free sample from the reps at the beginning of the season last year, used it all season, not one complaint.

Where is the hook rash? If it's in the clear coat epoxy by the hook holder you could probably lightly scuff the old epoxy and add a light coat of new guide wrap epoxy over it (need to rig up a dryer to slowly turn the rod while it cures - old microwave motor works fine). If there are chunks and scratches along the rest of the blank that could be harder to fix without it looking obvious and adding weight to parts of the rod you don't want to.

For a preventative measure I don't hook baits to the any part of my rod or reel. Just lay the bait down next to the rod on the deck. I only use the hook keeper to clip my leader to while storing the rod.

This is exactly how you avoid it dont hook lures to the rod only hook leader to the rod..I use to hook lures and started seeing the rash ans stopped that quick when rods are $200-500 cant have this happening

I will be putting Autosol scratch remover to the test this weekend!! Just another one of those odd things to look forward too!
