This lure is true homebrew - homemade mold, resin cast body, 2 mm ss thru wire. Too bad it didn't run for crap as either a musky or tuna lure. So I threw it in my junk box and let it age. When I first tested it I had also tried it as a vertically jigged vibration bait, but it didn't have much motion, so after aging I decided to add a plate (modified ss musky lip) to the bottom similar to the shape of my walleye metal blade baits. Once the lake thaws I'll get a chance to see if this addition gives this lure some action as a vertical jig.

I suggest you start with a wood lure before making a mold and get the bugs out then go to resin if you want too. It will save time and the cost of making a new mold, once made that's it donebar.

Even if that does not work given the body shape there are many directions to go with this bait. Walk the dog topwater, jitterbug or a crankbait. I do believe Sheldon Cooper would like it!

This devil weighs 8 ounces so it probably isn't going to work topwater. I'm thinking vertical halibut jig trailing a pair of 8/0 hooks with some bait in waters up to about 250'. It can't move any worse than an 8 ounce slab of lead and I know that they work.

I hope it works well for you. The mold though you could make those other baits using a different plastic or foam in the mold. Good shape and I wonder if a metal lip on the front would help as well?

The actual resin only weights a couple of ounces. The reason the lure is heavy is because I added a 6 oz round sinker before adding the resin. The lure was made for a friend who wants to troll at about 30' of depth for tuna, therefore the added weight. However, a slight misplacement of the weight is why the lure didn't run properly. I did made and posted a couple of these resin baits with metal lips, and gave them to one of the fellows on this forum. I don't know if he's tried fishing with them or not. I know the one with the large lip can't be run faster than a couple of mph or it will start to spin.
