| Hey all,
I just purchased a Crestliner Angler 1600. I'm going to have the dealer mount a bow mounted trolling motor for me when it arrives, but I don't know what lb. thrust I should have installed. Minn Kota's web site specs the Maxxum 55lb for boats up to 21 feet long. Does that sound right, or should I get a larger motor? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Foamboard

Location: Eau Claire, WI | Get as much thrust as you can afford. You don't have to use it at full power but it will be there if you need it. If your boat has room for 2 trolling motor batteries then a 24 volt system is the only way to go if your wallet will allow it. |

| I have a new Maxxum 55# on the transome of my small 14' alum boat. Works just great, but my boat is very light. Can't imagine it trying to move a 21' boat in the wind.
I agree to get the most power you can get, within reason. |

| I bought a Minkota 55lbs thrust and hated it...If the wind blows the motor is too weak...I bought the 75lb Maxxum and it is perfect. |

Location: MN | You probably already bought what ya needed....I have been running the 1600 Angler for 1 1/2 yrs. I got the 50lb thrust, 12 volt....Boat show special!
No problems to date. I bought the biggest Minnkota deep cycle battery they have and I always enough juice left. For that rig - 50 is all you need.......... |
