Has anyone ever put a super line (Power Pro or spider wire fusion) on a spinning reel? Will it work?

Using 50# Power pro on 3 spinning outfits for over a year now. Seems to work just fine.

I use 50lbs power pro on my spinning reel. So far I love it. it seems to cast a LOT better than the mono diameter equivalent.

I really like the Spiderwire Fusion on spinning reels, it is really tough and casts well. It's great on the river with all the timber and rocks.

I've been using spectra braid stuff on spinning reels for ten years now. USE A MONo LINE AS A BACKING. Can't emphasize that more. i use a blood knot to connect the two lines. As long as I've had a mono line as the backing I have not had problems. Without backing... lots of problems. I have not used spider wire fusion or power pro yet but have rigged a friends rod with berkely fire line. The following is taken from berkely's website: Attaching FireLine to your reel: Since FireLine has almost no stretch it must be tied as well as taped to a reel arbor to prevent slippage. The Berkley tape tab on the end of your FireLine fits this need very well. Simply tie FireLine onto the arbor of your reel and place the tape tab over it. Another way would be to use a mono backing since FireLine's small diameter makes it hard to fill most reels with a 125 yard spool. You may want o use a blood knot or a nail knot to attach the FireLine to monofilament.

You'll never go back to mono! Try Power Pro 20 or 30 lb. I've used Fireline for years and 30 lb. power pro will cast as far as 14 lb. fireline.
