Posts: 285 | Hi Gang, I am prepping the gear for the opener, and wondering if anyone likes those net covers like they sell at R&H. I have been using a velcro strap to hold the net part to the handle and rim, which works ok, but I still manage to catch a lot of hooks with the netting, even though I have the Treated Husky Musky. Has anyone come up with a good alternative to spending $50 on those zip-close vinyl covers for big nets? (I have a 31 x 31 Beckman with the 50" net) Thanks & Good luck this season! Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | I don't understand the purpose of the net covers? Why would you want to cover the net? What problem does it cause without the cover now? I really have no idea, not trying to act like a prick. Mike Hulber

Posts: 285 | Hi Mike, Keep in mind I only need my net a couple times a season... I'm just thinking it would be nice to have the net part covered, out of the sun & out of the way so I don't snag it as often. For now I am happy with the velcro strap, but saw this item and thought it looked like something I might, er, need: http://muskyshop.com/modules/cart/product.php?did=23&cid=0&sid=0&so... So have we gotten the Ranger Rick/Hulbert Brothers/Papa Joe Northern Wisconsin outing planned yet? Or, are you guys goingto the LOTW or Cass outings this summer? Later, papa joe

Posts: 1285 Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | The cover is nice for keeping the net bag out of the way, but it is inconvenient when it becomes time to use it, and if fishing alone, dam near impossible. I generally just use mine for transport and off season storage.

Posts: 169 Location: Elgin ,IL | I purchased the net cover from R & H last fall because my customers were tripping on the net webbing as we lay our net on the floor. The cover allowed me to stand the net on it's edge without the webbing cacthing on everything. It worked great until I decided to take my boat cover off at home and trailer my rig up to the Chain uncovered. It was a very expensive mistake!! Even with my net laid down flat on the carpet, that cover acted like a windsock and my net & cover went bye bye! Didn't know it was gone until I had to hand land a small 34"er about an hour into the day! My suggestion if you do decide to plop down $50 on the cover, take it out of your boat before leaving so it doesn't fly out! :)

Posts: 938 Location: NeverNever Lake | Sound advice Rich! I'm having some net management problems and was thinking about making my own custom cover for my Big Kahuna. I guess I'll throw in a couple of gromets or snaps to secure it, so I don't get a bad case of the Dragnet. Does that cover use zippers, velcro, or snaps as a closure ?
