Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | I was kinda hoping this post wouldn't show up here, it got pretty ugly on some of the other boards. Hope everyone here can play nice with it.

Posts: 5874 | I'm with you Norm. I really don't care about the formula, old or new. I figure if I ever even get anywhere close to a fish big enough to weigh(WR Class), I'll probably just bop it anyway. Then get it weighed on a scale. No guess work that way. And I won't let anybody girth it!!! Certainly isn't anything to argue about. Edited by Shep 4/4/2003 12:11 PM

Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Ok- I didn't post it to create a fire storm- only to say it finally looks like a bit of data (+700 muskies) was used to develop a better formula. I personally think that's great, if you don't that's fine too. The old formula was "oh that's just the way it is." There may never be a exact formula that fits all scenario's, I think the article points that out also. Yes I agree, the whole argument of what is it's weight, is best solved as you say w/ a solid thump to the skull & hanging from a certified scale. Looking at the article it seems that there never will be 100% agreement about the "right" formula. At least this one has a bit of muskie length/girth/weight research behind it. So until someone comes up w/ a better formula- (maybe you need 4 girth measurements+ length of upper right fang) I say thanks to Larry, Roy & the folks at Lax for a bit of new material for consideration. Knowing the mentality of some of the folks out there, it took some balls to put it into print. Al Edited by ESOX Maniac 4/4/2003 2:04 PM

Posts: 260 Location: Kentucky | I think all web sites where people get to trade ideas or learn from each other are great for everyone. However, I swam thru that post on 101 and I have to tell you, how embarassing!!! Thats why I spent most of my time here!! I feel that the people that frequent this board aren't willing to fight over such trivial information. Life's to short to worry about weight formulas!! How about a formula so all humans can live in peace? On second thought, why don't we just bury this thread where all the other trivial threads end up, in Sponge Bob's mail box. lol Edited by mavmskyb8 4/4/2003 2:21 PM

Posts: 1335 Location: Chicago, Beverly | Will we get another one next year too? I'm tired of the formulas...One has my 18 lbs Musky weighing more, the other has it weighing 18lbs. My Chatilion? That had it at 18. I'll trust my Chatilion when I weigh them in the cradle. Edited by kevin 4/4/2003 6:59 PM
