| Anyone running a newer pro guide with the sport trac system? Picked mine up yesterday. Was wondering what you guys do for mounting rod holders? The down east dont fit over the rail. Are there any options besides adding rails, or using the plastic sport trac brackets? If you came up with something and you can post a photo, it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

| I run down easts on mine.
Flip your sport trac brakets around so they lay on the top of gunnel, not the inside.

| Thanks for the reply BSG. I never realized down east made that style of holder. Thought it was just the clamp on.
Do you troll for musky with them? I am not certain that sport track bracket will not fail. I need a little reassurance from someone who has been doing it.
Also did you bolt them through with a nut on the bottom, when you attached it to the sport track bracket? |

| Down easts are attached with stainless bolts and stainless washer and nylock nut on the back side.
I do not have a lot of time invested in the sport trac system for muskies, but walleyes yes. Have pulled boards with crankbaits and obviously there is no stress.
For muskies I have trolled headlocks, jakes, and grandmas up to 4mph with no issues, but have not caught a fish trolling yet, but I also do not spend much time at it.
I do not see a lot of flex in this setup and I am confident it will hold up nicely. I also use good reels with good drags which will also help.
I have tightened down the drag and pulled very, very hard on a rod in the rod holder and it flexes, but not a lot.
Let me know if you have any other questions or need more pictures. |
