Location: Almond, WI | I'm not sure how much it matters. I guess how hard you are ripping them determines how much pickup you need. Big plastics don't pull hard so no worries about leverage. I mostly use a 5.3:1 reel for rubber. |

Location: Walker, MN | I rip my rubber pretty good. I use a Saltist that picks up 35" per crank, ultra high speed. Go with the fastest you have so you can get the slack out quick.
A high speed Revo works really well too imo. |

| High speed. Way better hook-sets and ability to catch up to big bites! Works better for ripping off weeds and keeping baits out of the rocks. Takes some fine tuning to switch to high speed but its well worth it. TN14A is still the best muskie reel. |

| side note but what kind of leader do you use? my Floro leader seams to get tangled in the hooks and a wire one just gets bent to h*$l. or is it just the nature of the beast. I use my TranX high speed as well. |
